Obituary of Mary M. Palo

Mary Margaret Palo, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 26,2026. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary (Monteith) Campbell. Mary was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended Bartram High School and thereafter worked briefly at Modern Mailers before enrolling at Venus Beauty School in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania. After completing her cosmetology training, she worked as a hairstylist in a Philadelphia salon. Years later, after raising her family, she returned to the profession she loved by assisting in the hair salons at Lima Estates and Granite Farms. Mary spent 45 years in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, where she and her husband raised their family, before spending her final three years in Garnet Valley. A devoted wife and loving mother of four, Mary dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She found joy in planting her flowers, celebrating holidays, taking family trips to the Jersey shore and the Pocono Mountains, watching Hallmark movies, hosting family cookouts, caring for others, and exploring the rich history of the area through historic home tours and local events. Nothing brought Mary greater happiness than being surrounded by those she loved. She treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and the love she shared with them was returned many times over. Her kindness, warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Mary's Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She was a devoted, longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Glen Mills, where she faithfully attended daily Mass and participated in the Rosary group until declining health made it no longer possible. Her unwavering faith, compassion, and love for her family will remain an enduring legacy. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. In addition to her late parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James V. Palo; sister, Joan Dobitsch; sister-in-law's, Margaret Palo, Elizabeth Dougherty and Carol Campbell; son-in-law, Stephen Medvid; and her nephews Jules Dobitsch and David Dobitsch. Mary is survived by her children, Susanne Medvid, James Palo (Leslie), Jason Palo (Jessica) and Amy Palo; brother Lawrence Campbell; brother-in-law, Jules Dobitsch; grandchildren Caitlin Medvid, Austin Medvid, Julianna Palo and Jillian Palo; many nieces and nephews.
