Obituary of Fletcher Norman Pyles
Fletcher Norman Pyles ("Norm"), age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Rose Court at Maris Grove in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 1, 1939, in Davis, West Virginia, Norm was the son of the late Charles A. Pyles and Myrtle Mae Blankenship. He was preceded in death by his grandfather and namesake, Fletcher Pyles; his brothers, Clyde "Dink" Pyles and Ronald Paul Pyles; and his beloved daughters, Pamela Ann Pyles (1963) and Sherry Lynn Pyles (1969).
Norm graduated from Mann High School in West Virginia and proudly served his country in the United States Army, Military Police Corps. He was stationed in Korea and was honorably discharged on July 31, 1969. Norm devoted 28 years of his professional life to Snap-On Tools, where he built a respected career and retired in 2000 as Regional Manager of the Eastern Division, overseeing six branches and more than 800 dealers.
Above all else, Norm was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man. He shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carolyn (Pratt) Pyles. Together they built a life centered around love, family, and unwavering support for one another. In retirement, Norm enjoyed following the stock market and spending cherished time with his family. He especially loved attending his granddaughters' school and athletic events, proudly videoing and recording memories to share with family and friends. He was a gifted storyteller who delighted in sharing stories about those he loved most. Norm also enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including baseball, golfing, fishing, and billiards. His warmth, humor, and dedication to family touched the lives of many, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Pyles; his daughter, Patricia P. McGonigle and her husband, Tom McGonigle; his granddaughters, Rylee Shea McGonigle and Alaina Rae McGonigle; and his sister, Sheila Adkins of North Carolina.
A private memorial service will be held. Burial will take place at a later date in Wayne, West Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norm's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
