Obituary of Sabra E. Larkin

Sabra Larkin, age 84, passed away on May 17, 2026 due to complications of Parkinson's Disease. Born July 7, 1941, Sabra was the daughter of the Hon. Lawrence C Elliott and Dorothy Hudson Elliott of Georgetown, Delaware. She grew up in Georgetown, graduated from St. Anne's School in Charlottesville, VA and the University of Delaware and then moved to New York City, where she spent most of her life. She built a career in publishing, doing publicity and promotion for several publishing houses, most happily for Ian and Betty Ballentine at Ballentine Books. Later, she also worked for Spence Chapin Adoption Agency.

She married David Larkin, a British artist and book publisher, in 1981. They spent many happy years together in NYC and at their beloved country home in Cherry Plain, NY - hiking and skiing and raising their devoted German Shepards, Bec and Molly. Sabra was also a gourmet cook; she and David were famous for their large garden and sumptuous dinner parties.

Sabra is survived by her two sisters, Mary Ann Elliott of Wilmington and Grace Messner and husband Blair of Glen Mills, PA, and by her three loving step-daughters, Kay Blyth, Sally Jones and Anna Erwin-Isles and their families, who reside in England.
