Obituary of Kenneth A. Kirk
Kenneth A. "Ken" Kirk, age 65, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at his home.
Ken was raised in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, by his parents, James and Teresa (Muldoon) Kirk. Although he spent most of his life in Drexel Hill, he had been a resident of Wilmington for the past four years.
Ken built a long and successful career as a Computer Network Engineer. He was a proud graduate of St. Dorothy Grade School and Cardinal O'Hara High School. He remained deeply devoted to his Catholic faith throughout his life. Ken was an active member of St. Lawrence, St. Andrew, and The Church of the Holy Child.
Ken was truly a jack of all trades, always able to fix, build, or lend a helping hand whenever someone needed him. He enjoyed following all Philadelphia sports teams and especially looked forward to attending the Phillies' Opening Day each year. Beyond his love of sports, his greatest passion was fishing.
Above all else, Ken loved and cherished the time he spent with his family. Whether enjoying sunsets at the beach or cheering enthusiastically from the stands, he found his greatest joy in being surrounded by those he loved. Of all his roles in life, he was most proud to be called "Pop/Poppycat" by his thirteen grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart and, in his eyes, could do no wrong.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Michelle M. (Harkins) Kirk; his two sons, Brian Kirk (Nicole Sivanda) and Kristopher (Lisa) Kirk; his three daughters, Kelly (Nicholas) Green, Kathryne (Blaine) Edwards, and Meaghan (Thomas) Pflaumer; and his thirteen grandchildren: Connor, Tyler, Taylor, Ethan, Avery, Peyton, Lily, Charlotte, Jackson, Sophia, Chase, Cooper, and Ella.
He is also survived by his brothers, James Kirk and Robert Kirk. In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence Kirk.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at The Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE 19810. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Ken's granddaughter, "Princess P," may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation at https://donate.cerebralpalsyfoundation.org/.
