Obituary of Douglas Kilgore
It is with profound sadness, yet deep love, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Douglas “Doug” Kilgore, on May 1, 2026, at the age of 58. Doug passed peacefully at his home in Upper Chichester, surrounded by the love and presence of his family.
Doug was a gentle, kind, and loving soul who gave freely of himself to others. He had a quiet strength and a generous heart, always willing to lend a hand or offer support to anyone in need. His passing leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, but his spirit and the love he shared will continue to live on.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Doug was the son of Mary Lou Kilgore and the late H. Raymond Kilgore. He was raised in Media, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Penncrest High School, Class of 1986. Doug went on to serve his community as a dedicated Mail Carrier with the United States Postal Service. His postal family and customers were a great source of strength and companionship, and we extend heartfelt gratitude to his Postal Brothers and Sisters for their unwavering love, support, and for lifting his spirits throughout his courageous journey with glioblastoma.
Doug found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. He was a devoted fan of Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies. He also held a special love for all things Disney, creating treasured memories with his family on many magical vacations.
Above all, Doug was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Amy Kilgore (née McKinney); his children, Nick Kilgore (Sarah) and Samantha Kilgore (Sean); his mother, Mary Lou Kilgore; and his brothers, Howie Kilgore (Kathy), Bruce Kilgore (Sue), and Todd Kilgore (Lori). He is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, his in-laws Mike and Michelle McKinney, his brother-in-law Michael McKinney Jr., special aunt-in-law, Deb Garrity. Doug was also Pop-Pop to a GrandKitty, Alfred Pennyworth AKA Kitty, who was a constant comforting companion during Doug’s illness.
Doug’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and quiet grace. Though he is no longer with us in body, his presence will continue to be felt—in laughter, in memories, and in the enduring bonds he created with those he loved.
