Jean Potts

Obituary of Jean M. Potts

Jean M. "Jeanie" Potts, 83, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away on April 16, 2026, peacefully at her home.

Born in Darby, PA, she was raised in Collingdale and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marie (Robinson) Benzinger. Jeanie had been a resident of Garnet Valley for the past 25 years and previously lived in Aston, PA.

A devoted homemaker, Jeanie had many roles: a loving wife (married to Joe for 62 years), mother, sister, mother-in-law, Mom-mom, "GG" (great grandmom), aunt, and cherished friend. She possessed a great sense of humor and was best known for her generosity, her laugh, her faith, her wisdom, her infamous July Christmas list requests, and her family dinners and holiday celebrations. Jeanie truly cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a love for astrology and casino trips, and she especially loved the holiday seasons and her dogs.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Benzinger, Jr. She is survived by her beloved husband, Joe Potts; her three children, Maureen (Mark) Garyantes, Joseph T. Potts (Diane), and William (Deana) Potts; her sister, Margie (Grant) Nangle; her nine grandchildren, Patrick Garyantes, Jaclyn (Will) Campos, Vincent Garyantes, Joseph Potts, Brendan (Danielle) Potts, Nathan (Hannah) Potts, Jacob Potts, Nicholas Potts, and Maryn Potts; four great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family would also like to sincerely thank the University of Pennsylvania Oncology staff, the University of Pennsylvania Hospice Care team, and her home health aide for their compassionate care.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 9:15–10:15 AM at St. Joseph Church, 3255 Concord Road, Aston, PA 19014. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeanie's name to the animal charity of your choice.
