Obituary of Phyllis A. King

Phyllis A. King, age 91, of Wilmington, Delaware, peacefully passed away on April 1, 2026, at Rockland Place Assisted Living. Raised in Grove City, Pennsylvania, Phyllis was the beloved daughter of the late Russell and Ruth Crawford Tinkey. She and John made Delaware their home beginning in 1964, where she devoted her life to her family. Phyllis found joy in life's simple pleasures. She worked several parttime jobs and spent much of her time volunteering at the church and schools. She loved crafting, baking (her holiday pie was a crowd favorite), playing cards like Wizard and Garbage, and even enjoyed playing video games like Space Invaders with her long time friend Janet Hall. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, who were the center of her life. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her brothers, Roger and James Tinkey. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 72 years, John W. King; her children, John Douglas King, William Alan King (Rose), Lynne Fenimore (David), and Bruce King (Gai); as well as her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren (soon to be eight). A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Chester Bethel United Methodist Church, 2619 Foulk Road, Wilmington, Delaware. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
