Margaret Sparks Fagan

Obituary of Margaret C. Sparks Fagan

Margaret "Maggie" Sparks Fagan, a longtime resident of Concord Township, PA, passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2026, at Lankenau Hospital. She was 75.

Born in Darby, PA, to the late Peter and Mary Humphreys Maginnis Sr., Maggie was raised in Folsom, PA and graduated from Cardinal O'Hara High School in 1968. She dedicated much of her life to caring for children and serving her community. Maggie worked as the Building Secretary at Garnet Valley Elementary School for more than 15 years. Earlier in her career, she served at St. John's Nursery School and lovingly provided private childcare to many families.

Maggie was the beloved widow of the late Alan Sparks Sr. In 2006, love found her again when she married Joseph Fagan Jr., and together they made their home in Garnet Valley.

A woman of deep faith, Maggie was devoted to her Catholic beliefs and was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Glen Mills, where she once sang in the choir. She found joy in trips to the Jersey Shore, summer days by her pool—especially when shared with her grandchildren—gardening, and hosting family gatherings. Above all else, Maggie treasured her family. She rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren at sporting events and activities, and her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by those she loved.

In addition to her husband Joseph, Maggie is survived by her children: Meghan (Jason) Kotch, Alan (Bess) Sparks Jr., Andrew (Lauren) Sparks; and her stepson Jonathan Fagan. She was the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren: Allie, Abigail, and Ryan Kotch; Ava, Rohan, and Lydia Sparks; Brooks and Emery Sparks; and Isabella, Tyler, and Anthony Fagan. She is also survived by her siblings: Patti (Mike) Pralle, Kate Kreppin, Pete (Diane) Maginnis Jr., Joe (Mary) Maginnis, Jeanie (Dan) DiVito, Anne (Dave) Soslau, and Maureen (Joe) Hackett, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Family and friends are invited to attend Maggie's viewing on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Aston, PA.

In lieu of flowers, Maggie's family kindly requests donations in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org.
