Obituary of Kathleen A. Hamp

Kathleen A. Hamp, age 73, a lifelong resident of the Gardendale Section of Boothwyn, passed away on February 1, 2026 at Riddle Memorial Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Grace Boudoux Szurgyjlo. 

Born in Chester, she was raised in Boothwyn, living in the same home all of her life.  Kathy was a 1970 graduate of Chichester High School and later attended hairdressing school where she worked as a hairdresser for several years. She then dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her family and being the caretaker for her parents.  In later years, she worked part time at Granite Farms.

Kathy was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God in Wilmington and a former member of the Assembly of God (River of Life) in Chester were she was very active, especially enjoying doing arts & crafts at the church.  She loved summer vacations in Wildwood and cherished attending her grandchildren’s school, sports and dance events and activities.  Most recently, she became an avid Eagles and Phillies fan while watching the games with her sister Linda.

In addition to her late parents, Kathy was predeceased by her son Kenneth Lee Simpkiss who passed in infancy and her brother Joseph Szurgyjlo, Jr..  She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Ronald A. Hamp, her children, Frank Howard (Amanda) Simpkiss, Kimberly (Michael) Caramanico, Ronda (Robert) Bullen, and Margie (Michael) Powell, grandchildren Aidan, Brennan, Jackson and Adalynn Simpkiss, Anthony Caramanico, Faith and Emily Bullen, and Jeffrey and Ashley Powell, her devoted sister Linda White and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 10:00-11:00am, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00am at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA 19060. Interment Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
