Obituary of Kerry D. Hoffert
Kerry D. Hoffert, age 89, of Glen Mills, formerly of Springfield, Delaware County, passed away peacefully at Rose Court at Maris Grove on January 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, Kerry was the son of the late Stanley D. and Anna Sterner Hoffert. He was raised in Shillington, PA, and after graduating high school proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Kerry later attended Penn State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and remained a devoted Penn State fan throughout his life.
In 1964, Kerry married the love of his life, Dorothy "Dottie" Hahn. Together, they settled in Springfield, Delaware County, where they raised their family. In 2012, Kerry and Dottie moved to the Maris Grove Community.
Kerry enjoyed a long career as a U.S. Customs Inspector, serving at both the Port of Philadelphia and Philadelphia International Airport until his retirement in 1996.
An avid fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and Eagles, Kerry also loved staying active. He enjoyed any game involving a racquet, playing squash well into his seventies, racquetball, and later participating in the bocce league at Maris Grove. He was known for his contagious laugh, his love of telling jokes, and his remarkable ability to tinker and creatively make all kinds of things.
In addition to his beloved wife, Dorothy, Kerry is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Thomas) Ferguson; his son, Ken (Lana) Hoffert; his grandchildren, Ryan Ferguson, Lauren (Padraig) Black, Emily Hoffert, Abby Hoffert, and Sam Hoffert; his brother, Bob (Tammy) Hoffert; and his sister, Ann (Wen) Brown.
Family and friends are invited to attend Kerry's viewing on Thursday, January 29, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA. Interment will follow at Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA.
