Obituary of Janet Myrtle Twaddell

Janet Myrtle Twaddell, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. She was 87 years old.

Born in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, Janet was the daughter of the late Harry Gilbert Twaddell and Myrtle Hanby Twaddell. She was a 1956 graduate of Chichester High School and began her career with the Bell Telephone Company shortly thereafter. Janet enjoyed a long and distinguished career, retiring in 1997. She previously resided in the Winterset Farms community for 37 years.

Janet had a love of travel, fondly remembering her trip to Hawaii, as well as many day trips—especially to Maryland's Eastern Shore and the Chesapeake Bay. She was a loyal Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies fan. Janet also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, visiting Booths Corner Farmers Market, and was a longtime and devoted member of Siloam United Methodist Church in Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her niece, Jennifer (Shane) West; her nephew, Steven Twaddell; her great-nieces, Alaina and Natalie West; and her great-nephew, Trevor West. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brothers, Gilbert Elwood Twaddell and Ronald Allen Twaddell.

A private family interment will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janet's memory to Siloam United Methodist Church, 3720 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA 19060, or to the Talleyville Fire Company, 3919 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803.
