Obituary of Alison Petersen
Alison Petersen, age 98, of Mechanicsburg, PA went Home on December 5th to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she loved and served. She was born in Toronto, Canada and lived there until she married her husband at age 19. Over their 41 years of marriage, they lived in Brooklyn, New York and then in Havertown, PA. For the past 12 years Alison resided in Mechanicsburg, PA most recently at Messiah Lifeways.
In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Alison was involved in prison ministry for over 30 years, taught women's Bible studies, and she also served on The Women’s Auxiliary of The Gideons International for many years. In her spare time, Alison enjoyed playing the piano, painting, drawing and was an accomplished seamstress. Her offspring treasure the beautiful cards she made for them with her original artwork and poetry.
In addition to her parents, Frederick and Isabella Casays, she is preceded in death by her husband, William T. Petersen (1927-1988). Alison is survived by her 6 children, Ruth (Roger) Walker, Margaret (Guy) Wilson, David (Valerie) Petersen, Marilyn (Don) Cole, Amanda "Barbara" Petersen and Lois (Michael Jr.) Mellon, 10 grandchildren, Caroline (Keith) Petersen, Andrew Walker, Julia (Shaun) Phillips, Charles Wilson, Lori Ann (Garland) Dawson, Randy (Mandi) Petersen, Tara (Nate) Toth, Ryan (Emily) Petersen, Michael (Heidi) Mellon III and Shannon Mellon, and 15 great grandchildren, Corinne (Noel) Rashduni, Daniel, David, Rachel, Zoe, Garland, Colton, Alison, Jacob, Chip, Addie, Noah, Liam, Avery and Autumn.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 11, from 11-12 Noon at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon. Interment to follow at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.
