Obituary of Peter Kanz

Peter Kanz, age 77, a recent resident of Elverson, PA, and formerly of Ridley Township, PA, for thirty-two years, passed away on December 4, 2025, at Paoli Hospital.

Born in Camden, NJ, to the late Peter Kanz and the late Lois "Betty" Regn Kanz, Pete was raised in Berlin, NJ. After graduating from high school, he attended Pierce Junior College and proudly served stateside in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. He went on to enjoy a dedicated fifty-year career as a store manager with Acme Markets, retiring in 2015.

In 1992, Pete married the love of his life, Denise Joynes Kanz, with whom he cherished crosswords, morning coffee, and long conversations. Together, they loved day trips to the shore, movies, dining out, and spending time with their grandkids. He enjoyed playing pinochle with his friends in his new community. He was also a devoted Philadelphia sports fan, especially cheering on the Eagles and the Phillies.

Above all, Pete's life was centered around family. In addition to his wife, Denise, he is survived by his son, Scott (Ann) Kanz; daughters, Amy (Jeremy) Herhei and Dora (Lloyd) Donnelly; stepson, Glenn (Nikki) Miller; and grandchildren, Emelia Kanz, Lainey and Alison Herhei, Eva and Jackson Donnelly, and Cody Miller. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bill McVean, Linda Martin, and Kathy (Dennis) Dobson, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peter's memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org/), 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
