Obituary of Dolores Catherine Twaddell
Dolores Catherine DeNenno Twaddell, November 20, 1932 – November 7, 2025
With deep love and gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we celebrate the memory of Dolores Catherine DeNenno Twaddell, who passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, surrounded by family. She was just days away from her 93rd birthday.
Born in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1932, Dolores was the beloved daughter of Catherine Elizabeth Redmond and John Joseph DeNenno. In 1939, her family moved to Lima, Pennsylvania, where she grew up and graduated from Media High School in 1950. Before her marriage, Dolores worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, a job she fondly remembered for the friendships she made and the independence it gave her.
In 1953, she married the love of her life, John Hamilton Twaddell, Jr. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and love. In 1957, they moved to Wilmington, Delaware, where they raised their family and created a warm, welcoming home filled with laughter, good food, and endless love.
Dolores was a devoted mother to Karen Twaddell Buckley (Bob), John Twaddell III (Bobbi J), Robert Twaddell, and Lee Twaddell (Tracy). She was a proud grandmother to Samantha Twaddell, Derek Buckley (Andrea), Matthew Twaddell (Suzanne), Marissa Twaddell Verdi (Tom), Lauren Buckley Capone (Nicholas), John Twaddell IV and a joyful great-grandmother to Zara Twaddell, Este Twaddell, Aiden Buckley, Harper Capone, Archer Buckley, and Nora Verdi.
She was preceded in death by her husband; John H. Twaddell Jr., dear brothers; John DeNenno Jr., Robert DeNenno, and Harold DeNenno, whom she held close in memory and prayer.
Dolores had many passions throughout her life – she loved to sew, knit, read, cook, and travel – and found joy in sharing those gifts with the people she loved. Whether it was a handmade sweater, a delicious home-cooked meal, or a story from one of her adventures, Dolores made everyone feel special and cared for.
Her gentle heart, sharp wit, and unwavering love for her family defined her life. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, strength, and the light she brought into every room.
