Obituary of Eileen M. Talley
Eileen Margaret Talley, 88, of Surfside Beach, SC and formerly of Chadds Ford, PA, passed away peacefully on Nov. 11, 2025. She was the daughter of the late John B. Hartnett and Margaret (O'Brien) Hartnett. Eileen was married to William (Bill) A. Talley, Jr. for 68 years.
Raised in Upper Darby, PA, Eileen graduated from Notre Dame High School in Moylan and later settled in Chadds Ford -- where she and Bill would call home for the next 50-plus years before retiring to South Carolina. Together, they cherished their growing family -- hosting countless Sunday brunches, ice cream socials and swim fests in the backyard pool. Eileen loved Christmas decorations and transformed her house into a winter wonderland during the holidays as the family gathered to admire festive window displays and decorate the tree with storied ornaments. She lovingly remembered every family member's birthday, crafting personalized cards with heartfelt messages that reflected the warmth and care she brought to every relationship. In addition, she shared her welcoming spirit as a member of the hospitality committee at her local church. She also found joy in exploring her family's ancestry, weaving together stories from generations past.
The beach was Eileen's second home, and she treasured her ocean view from Surfside Beach, watching the sunrise and welcoming the many family members who came to visit – and always with Bill at the center of her world.
In addition to her loving husband, Eileen is survived by 5 children: Kathleen Little (Jim), William Talley III (Patty), Brian Talley (Joan), Michael Talley (Loren), Dennis Talley (Karen); 13 grandchildren: Sarah, Kevin, Danielle, Brittany, Bryce, Lexi; Alyssa, Jenna, Raine, John, Deirdre, Regan and Peyton; and 7 great grandchildren: Annie, Ben, Emilia, Emma, Evelyn, Gwendolyn and Zane. She is also survived by her 3 brothers: John Harnett, Robert Hartnett, and Richard Harnett, and one sister, Patricia Hartnett, plus several nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by two children.
