Obituary of Marsha M. Blacka
Marsha M. Byre Blacka, age 72, of Upper Chichester, PA, passed away on November 9, 2025, at Riddle Village. Born on April 24, 1953, to the late Clay Marshall and Betty (Butler) Byre, Marsha spent her early years growing up in Upland, PA. In 1971, she graduated from Collingdale High School. She received a scholarship to attend hairdressing school and studied to be a Cosmetology Instructor. After a few years, she started a business with the late Charmaine Riddle, her best friend, in which they cut and styled hair for various clients, family, and friends. After having children, Marsha decided to go back to school to become a legal secretary and received an associate degree from The Chubb Institute. She worked for many years for several law practices in Woodbury, NJ, and Media, PA, until she decided to retire early at age 61.
In her free time, Marsha enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with friends and family. After moving to Creekside Village 9 years ago, she became fond of playing cards and dominoes down at the clubhouse. She also loved to attend the early bird dinners on Tuesdays with residents from the neighborhood.
In addition to her parents, Marsha was preceded in death by her loving husband, John J. Blacka. She is survived by her children, Kimberly and Brandon Blacka, her sister Karen (Dennis) Beauchamp, and her sister-in-law Joan (Ralph) Burton, along with four nieces, Janet, Jennifer, Jill, and Lauren, three great-nephews, and one great-niece.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery.
