Obituary of John J. DeLio Sr.
John J. DeLio, age 76, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2025.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Joseph and Louise (Tursi) DeLio, John resided in Garnet Valley for the past 40 years, previously living in Glenolden, PA. A proud Italian through and through, he brought people together over food, great stories, and a deck of cards he always seemed to win with.
John earned his degree from St. Joseph's University. He was very driven, he believed in himself and tested several work ventures in his early professional life. John worked hard, but made success look easy. Eventually becoming a manager with Jetro Cash and Carry Wholesale. He had a knack for connecting with everyone he met, he truly seemed to know everybody, and to know him was to love him.
A devoted husband to his wife, Joann, of 51 years. Who he met at a traffic light in 1969, the best stop he ever made. Together they raised three handsome sons, whom he loved dearly and coached in several sports throughout the years. One of his greatest delights, being "Pop" to his seven grandchildren, his eyes would light up whenever they were near. As a family, many summers were enjoyed in North Wildwood. He watched his grandchildren surf, play in the ocean, and never missed a fudgy wudgy.
You might say John DeLio had it all. A golfer, a card shark, storyteller, sports enthusiast, world traveler, he was light on his feet, and a true gentleman- but above all, he was the heart of his family. His warmth, quick wit, and generous ways made every gathering brighter. His smile, charm, and charisma will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Medeiros (2000).
He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann (Sobel) DeLio; sons, Joseph R. (Nicole) DeLio, John J. (Kristie) DeLio, and Michael F. (Nicole Lynn) DeLio; his brothers, Frank (Diane) DeLio and Joseph (Robin) DeLio; and his cherished grandchildren, Gianna, Anthony, Mia, John III, Dominic, Brooke, and Vincent.
