Obituary of Diane Joyce Harrington
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom and wife, Diane Harrington, on September 27, 2025, at age 88.
In 1953, she met Jim Harrington, introduced by her classmate at Springfield High School, Lois Harrington (Jim's sister). After graduating from Springfield High School in 1954, Diane went to the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied Nursing.
In 1958, Jim and Diane were married, and together they went on to have 3 children. Diane had a very successful career in Nursing, starting in the pediatric ward at Riddle Memorial Hospital. She later worked at the Pediatric Medical Associates in Drexel Hill, where she retired from in 1992.
Diane was always involved in her community. She was President of the Lioness of Springfield, a member of Business and Professional Women's Association, assisted with the Meals on Wheels of First Presbyterian Church, delivering food items to those in need, all along she would be at all of her children's school and sporting events.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Diane was known for her generosity with donating hand knitted or crocheted mittens, hats, sweaters and baby blankets. She had a generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her compassion touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.
Diane is survived by her husband Jim of 67 years, their daughter Nancy, and their sons Jim (Lisa) and Bill and three grandchildren; Gianna, Kayla and Julianna. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Edward and Evelyn McCrea.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, 356 Summit Rd, Springfield, PA, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at First Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.paganofuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, Lions Club of Springfield, or the American Heart Association (heart.org)
