Obituary of George K. Thornton
George K. Thornton, age 85, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at his home in Millsboro.
Born in Chester, PA to the late George Thornton and Naomi Blackburn Thornton, George was raised in Marcus Hook. He has resided in Millsboro, DE for the past 20 years, previously residing in Chichester, PA.
George was a proud and skilled electrician, dedicating many years of his life to his trade. He was employed by General Motors in Wilmington, DE previously working for Westinghouse.
Known as "Super G", he was a devoted member of the Millsboro Community, actively involved in the Moose Lodge in Millsboro and the American Legion Post 28. He also was known for his love of the Philadelphia Eagles.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Earline Young Thornton who died in 2000; his son, Kenneth Thornton who died in 1999, a brother, Joseph Thornton and his sister, Darlene Dryden. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly A. Weldon, and his grandchildren, Matthew Weldon and Aaron Weldon.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 11-12 Noon at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA followed by a Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Interment, Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
The family kindly requests that those attending the funeral wear their favorite jeans and a flannel shirt, or other casual attire, in honor of George's casual style.
