In Loving Memory of Patricia A. Lakin (née Heywood)
January 14, 1935 – August 1, 2025
Patricia A. Lakin, lovingly known as "Mommom Pat," passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Born and raised in Girardville, Pennsylvania, she entered the world on January 14, 1935, the eldest daughter of Olga Cleo Heffner and Stanley Moyer Heywood.
Patricia was the wife of the late James Junior Lakin. Together, they built a home filled with kindness and unwavering support in Marcus Hook, PA, where she lived for many years until his passing in 2010. She served on the Recreation Board for numerous years and worked as a counselor for the summer youth program.
A dedicated librarian at Marcus Hook Elementary School for over four decades, Patricia touched countless young lives with her love of books and learning. Her generous heart made her a beloved figure in the community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son James Ronald Lakin (Beverly), her grandson James Ronald Lakin Jr., and her dear sister Sandra L. Snyder.
Patricia's legacy lives on through her loving children, Cheryl Ann Carr (Kenneth) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Glenn Thomas Lakin (Jennifer) of Cochranville, PA; her sister Janice Gilcrest (Robert); six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Pat found joy in fishing with her friends at the pier in Marcus Hook on the Delaware River, camping with her family, and crabbing along the Chester River in her summer home. One of her greatest pleasures was cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting activties, always their biggest fan. She had a very special bond with her grandchildren.
Her home was a haven, a place of comfort, security, and unconditional love. She had a heart that welcomed everyone. Patricia will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and her support of anyone who was in need of whatever she could give.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A Graveside Service for Pat will be held on October 4, 2025 at 11AM at LAwn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
