Obituary of Robert Wheeler IV
Robert H. Wheeler IV "Bob", age 82, of Aston, PA, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at Dunwoody Village Nursing Home.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Prospect Park, PA, Bob was the son of the late Robert H. Wheeler III and the late Elizabeth Moore Wheeler. He graduated from Interboro High School and attended Peirce College.
Bob was the beloved husband of 56 years to Mary Jane (Clements) Wheeler, devoted father to Jennifer Wheeler and Andrew Wheeler, and loving brother to Kathryn Markle.
Golf was more than a career to Bob. It was a calling. He began his journey in the industry at Buena Vista Country Club in New Jersey, then served as an assistant professional and later caddy master at Waynesborough Country Club in Paoli. Bob went on to become head professional at Concord Country Club in Concord Township and Cedarbrook Hill Country Club in Wyncote. He later served as assistant pro at Stonewall Country Club in Elverson. He was a proud lifetime member of the PGA and owner of the Ted Smith Putter Company.
Bob's greatest joys in life were his family, his beloved dogs Misty, Cookie, Bogey, and, of course, golf. He was known for his generous spirit, especially during the holidays, and loved surprising people with thoughtful gifts. He enjoyed visiting casinos, dining out, and indulging in desserts.
Bob lived with great courage and dignity after being diagnosed with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) in his early 40s, never allowing it to diminish his passion for life.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA 19060. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, with interment at Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, PA.
