Obituary of August J. Mann III

August "Buddy" J. Mann III, age 84, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away on September 5, 2025, at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born in Chester, PA, and raised in Boothwyn, Buddy had made Garnet Valley his home for the past 47 years. A skilled welder, he worked for Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock for 30 years before retiring. Following retirement, he continued working with Accurate Recycling. Buddy was a proud veteran, having honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a man of many talents and interests—he enjoyed hunting in Chester County, fishing, and bowling, and he was especially proud of the pieces he crafted in his woodshop. A true handyman, Buddy loved working in his garage, fixing and creating. He also had a deep appreciation for good food and cherished time spent with family and friends. In addition to his parents, August J. Mann II and Anna J. Wright Mann, Buddy was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sandra L. Parncutt Mann, who passed in 2019, and by his brother, John Mann. He is survived by his children, Arlene Mann and August "AJ" (Lauren) Mann; his sisters, Sarah (Glenn) Cox and Anna (Bill) Kurzeji; sister-in-law, Eva (Craig) Smith; grandchildren, Jenifer Harding, Daniel (Lauren) Harding, and Emma Mann; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday, September 9th, from 10:00–11:00 AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Buddy's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org ).
