Obituary of Rawlings E. Tyson
Rawlings "Bud" E. Tyson, age 94, of Boothwyn, PA, passed away on August 29, 2025 at Regal Heights Rehabilitation in Hockessin, DE. Born at home in Boothwyn, Bud was a lifelong resident of the community he dearly loved.
He worked as an HVAC mechanic for Sun Oil in Marcus Hook for 30 years, retiring in 1988. Devoted to his faith, Bud was a longtime member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church. He was also active with Sun Oil and a member of the Sapphire Club. Bud was a proud veteran, honorably serving his country with the U.S. Navy Seabees and later, a member of the American Legion Post 951 in Ogden. Bud was quite active and belonged to the Senior Citizens of Upland, where he also enjoyed serving as the Bingo caller until recently. In his free time, Bud loved playing cards, shuffleboard, and hunting.
In addition to his parents, Rawlings and Mary (Whiteman) Tyson, Bud was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marian (Ledger) Tyson, and his brother, Bill Tyson. He is survived by his children, Ed (Carol) Tyson Jr., Michael (Filza) Tyson, and Cathy (Andre) Dube; his twin sister, Louise Nowak; nine grandchildren, Chris (Megan) Tyson, Kevin (Courtney) Tyson, Kyle (Kelsey Caratello) Tyson, Michael Tyson Jr., Matthew (Samantha) Tyson, Caroline (Dan) Blake, Adam Powell, Ryan Powell, and Tara (Fred) Hrynczyszyn; and twelve great-grandchildren, Christopher, Colin, Mary, Evelyn, Jolene, Dakota, Maverick, Patrick, Thomas, Olivia, Logan, and Sophia.
Family and friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday, September 16th, from 9:30–10:30 AM at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 4225 Chichester Ave., Boothwyn, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held privately at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
