Obituary of Barbara A. Pusey
Barbara A. Pusey, 87, of Quarryville, PA, passed away at her home on August 15, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born in Vox, South Carolina on January 19, 1938 to Norton and Hazel Staver. She spent her early years in South Carolina, later moving to a home in Aston Mills, PA. They eventually moved to a home on the Conchester Highway in Twin Oaks, PA., where her dad owned a millwork shop. She attended Media High School, graduating in 1955. Barbara married Don Pusey in 1957 at a ceremony in Nashville, South Carolina. They moved into their first home together in Linwood, PA where their son, Wayne and daughter Donna were born. A couple of years later, they moved to Linwood Park, where Darlene was born. Barbara worked at Dupont and Viscose before starting her own Dog Grooming business in the basement of her home. Barbara loved children so much, she decided to be a Foster Parent and brought 39 additional children into her home over many years. Many of her foster kids kept in contact with her and let her know how much they appreciated her love and support. After the passing of her husband, Barbara moved with Darlene to Quarryville, PA to be near Donna.
Barbara was a founding member of Chichester Wesleyan Church. She was among the group that split from the Union Gospel Missionary Church in Marcus Hook, PA to form a new church. She was an avid member of the church and still called Chi her home church after moving to Quarryville.
Barbara is survived by her two sisters, Patricia Shank and her husband Earl of Boothwyn, PA, Joy Cooley and her husband Rev. Andrew Cooley of Penns Creek, PA and Brother-in-law, Rev., Dr. Timothy Cooley of Middleburg, PA. She is preceded in death by her sisters Dore McNeal of Boca Raton, Florida and Ruth Cooley of Middleburg, PA. She is also survived by her three children, Wayne and his wife Lynda, Donna and her husband Scott, and Darlene her loving caregiver. She has six grandchildren, David, Sherry, Dan, Jason, Dale and Tricia and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, sister, friend and role model and will be missed by all.
Visitation and Funeral services will be held at Chichester United Wesleyan Church on August 21st. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 and the service will begin at 11:00 with Reverends Kevin Goos, Dwight Addington and Dan Pusey officiating. Burial will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery in Linwood, PA.
Barbara had a great love of flowers, but she had a greater love for mission work. She supported missions all her life. Barbara requested In lieu of flowers, donations be made to support her niece, Tabitha, and great niece, Katrina, in their missionary work abroad. (https://chiunitmissionaryenter.com/giving)
