Obituary of Madeline J. Gourdier
Madeline Josephine (Cusumano) Gourdier, age 82, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on July 31, 2025, at Kutz Senior Living.
Born in Darby, PA, and raised in Upper Darby, PA, Madeline had resided in Wilmington, DE for the past 7 years, previously making her home in Glen Mills and Aston, PA where she raised her family.
A graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School, Class of 1961, Madeline was devoted to her faith. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a former member of St. Thomas Parish and St. Francis de Sales Parish. She was also an active member of American Legion Post 951, where she enjoyed participating in Bingo, Karaoke and Shuffle Board.
Madeline loved cooking, sewing, doing crafts, gardening, decorating and attending yard sales. She cherished time spent with her family and friends and will be remembered for her warm heart, vibrant spirit and uplifting smile and laugh.
In addition to her parents, Peter and Josephine (Oriente) Cusumano, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard "Bernie" Cusumano and two grandsons, Ian W. Fischer and Joshua S. White. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, John W. Gourdier Sr, whom she met in high school; her five children, Madeline (Marty) Kane, LisaAnn (Walter) Malone, Kathleen (Joseph) Raffa, John W. (MaryBeth) Gourdier, and Michael (Lisa) Gourdier; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening 6:00-8:00PM at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA and Thursday, 10:00-10:45AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM. Interment will be held privately at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
