Obituary of Theodore F. Cowchok
Theodore Frank Cowchok, 87, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior on July 21, 2025. Ted was born to Frank and Dora Cowchok on October 6th, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA.
Ted had a love for the beach and a good meal. A true connoisseur of local dining establishments, he was always willing to share the best things to eat at each of those places with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed eating crab and other seafood delicacies, and enjoyed an excellent prime rib. Ted had a knack for finding the best bites in town. His favorite was Harry's Savoy Grill.
Ted enjoyed the beach and liked to arrive there very early in the morning to get the best spot and view. He liked soaking up the sun and the salt air.
Ted was a Master Mason at Community Lodge #744 in Broomall, PA.
Ted enjoyed serving at his Church, Faith Presbyterian. He served as a Deacon and was honored to being named Deacon Emeritus. He was a beloved member of the Chancel Choir. Ted loved to sing and even joined the Community Choir at Shipley Living. He loved hymns and could often be found singing them, even if just for his own edification. His favorite hymn was It is Well.
He is survived by his children: his son, Gregory Theodore (Pamela) Cowchok; his son, Mark Christopher (Nancy) Cowchok, and his beloved granddaughter, Rebecca. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dora Cowchok, and his wife, Sonya. Ted met his "One and Only," Sonya, at a Church convention in Chicago, IL, at the Palmer House. They got married on September 21, 1963 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage.
Ted lived a full life. He travelled to many parts of the world with Sonya, including China, England and Switzerland. He also enjoyed every cruise that he went on with his wife, especially the cruise to Alaska.
Ted loved his heritage and the music that went along with it. Saturdays often were spent listening to Polka Tom on the Radio and it is rumored that he and Sonya used to dance together in their home. This was in addition to the many weekends spent at Polka festivals.
A celebration of Ted's life will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Pagano Funeral Home ( 3711 Foulk Rd, Garnet Valley, PA 19060) The viewing will start at 10:00 AM, with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment at Chester Bethel Cemetery to immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Faith Presbyterian's Music Program. (720 Marsh Rd, Wilmington, DE 19803) Online condolences may be made by visiting www.paganofuneralhome.com
