Obituary of Frances J. Palm

Frances J. Palm, age 83, of Upper Chichester, PA, passed away on July 20th at Accent Care at Wilmington Hospital. Born in Williamsport, PA, Fran has been a 55 year resident of Upper Chichester.

In addition to being a homemaker, Fran retired from United Cerebral Palsy in 1990. She was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church. Fran enjoyed ceramics, gardening, tending to her numerous flower beds that she took great pride in, reading Danielle Steele books, traveling with her husband Gus and their beloved dog Mindy, cooking, and baking.

You could walk into her house at any time of day or night to a pot of coffee, a home-cooked meal, and a variety of baked goods made from scratch! She loved listening to her oldies music, especially Elvis, who she often referred to as her "boyfriend". Fran was the life of the party and always made her presence known! She may have been less than 5 feet tall, but her personality was larger than life. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took the role of Mommom very seriously, even if you weren't related by blood. She also was an avid Eagles fan and enjoyed watching football. She was their biggest cheerleader on game day and wore her Eagles jersey proudly. Fran loved her home and was blessed to reside there until her final days.

In addition to her husband, Gus Palm, who passed in 2013, she is preceded in death by her father, Homer Hamrick, and her mother, Yolanda Ciliberti Rawlik, and 3 siblings, Joan Carpenter, Thomas Hamrick and Jerry Hamrick. Fran is survived by her 4 children, Norman Vandegrift, Michael (Joanie) Vandegrift, Stephanie Riddle (Steve Smith), and Christina Baglione (Tom DeOrio), 2 step-children, Sharon (John) Reilly, and Gary (Lauri) Palm, siblings, Judy Damon and Carmen Johnson, 16 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren and 1 great- great- grandchild.

A viewing will be held on Monday, July 28th from 10-11 AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA 19060, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM. Interment, Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA. Donations in Fran's memory may be made to the Providence Animal Shelter, 555 Sandy Bank Rd., Media, PA.
