Obituary of Janet Marlyn Ross

Janet "Marlyn" Ross, age 90, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away on July 13, 2025, at Naamans Creek Country Manor. Born in Springfield, Montgomery County, PA, Marlyn had resided for the past 34 years in the Winterset Farms community, previously living in Glen Riddle, PA. She attended Moore College of Art and held various positions throughout her career before establishing and operating her own residential and commercial cleaning business. A woman of many talents, Marlyn had a deep love for the arts—she enjoyed painting, writing poetry, gardening, and playing both the piano and organ. She also found joy in teaching piano lessons and cherished time spent with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Earl S. and Janet T. Barr Swearer Sr., Marlyn was preceded in death by her brother, Earl S. Swearer Jr., and her husband, Richard A. Oswald. She is survived by her three children: David P. (Patricia) Oswald, Robert A. (Diane) Oswald, and Carole J. (Mark) O'Brien; two stepchildren: Donna L. Baird and Robert (Robin) Greenwood; seven grandchildren: Kevin and Colleen Oswald, Robert Oswald Jr., Michael Oswald, Ashley, Asyssa, and Ally Boyd; and two great-grandchildren: Kellen and Vivian Oswald. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 8th, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Concord Baptist Church, 2510 Marsh Road, Wilmington, DE, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
