Obituary of Michael P. Mayberry Jr.
Michael "Mike" Mayberry, 42, of Delaware County, PA, passed away on July 8, 2025.
He left this world far too soon—but not before making a lasting impression.
Born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1983, Mike brought a rare kind of heart and light into this world and into the lives of everyone lucky to know him. Known for his incredible smile, fierce loyalty, and magnetic spirit—his life was a blend of warmth, grit, humor, and soul. He had a unique gift for making everyone feel seen, welcome, and just a little more alive.
He lived fully and fearlessly.
A proud Delco native, Mike graduated from Cardinal O'Hara High School in 2002, where he played football. He went on to earn a degree in Communications from Delaware County Community College and West Chester University. After graduation, he began a career path in New York City as unique as he was, including jobs in law, the music industry, and even a stint as a DJ in Brooklyn.
His true professional calling, however, was found in 2008 as a Union Carpenter, initially in NYC and later with Philadelphia's Local 158. With a strong work ethic and natural born leadership, he earned the respect of all around him. He loved his craft and the people he worked alongside, and took endless pride in the buildings across Philadelphia that bear his mark. In June, he received a distinguished leadership award from the Regional Council at the UBC International Training Center in Las Vegas, a testament to his dedication and skill.
Mike savored the finer things in life — horror movies, killer tattoos, expensive sneakers, Dunkin' Donuts, the Jersey shore, Italian restaurants, blackjack in AC, heart-shaped chocolate chip cookie cakes, Pitbulls and French Bulldogs in designer gear, graffiti, street art, Philly slang, Philly tailgates and sports— with a special place in his heart for Gritty.
Mike is survived by his loving mom, Rosemary 'Bunny' (Brodeur) Mayberry; dad, Michael P. Mayberry; sister, Kara (Jamie Skerski) Mayberry; brother, Kevin Mayberry; and nieces, Julianna Mayberry and Rory Mayski. He also leaves behind his fiancée, Kristen McGlynn, and her children, Jamisyn, Gavin, and Mason. His beloved dogs, Deuce, Ca$h, and Malibu — were loyal sidekicks who never left his side. Mike will be forever missed by his large, beautiful extended family, including his aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as a wide circle of friends who felt like chosen family. For Mike, his friends were family, and his family were best friends.
The sadness of his absence is only matched by the depth of the love he leaves behind.
He will remain in our hearts forever.
