Obituary of Francis J. Higgins

Francis "Frank" J. Higgins, age 89, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away on July 7, 2025, at Lankenau Hospital.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Frank spent the past 18 years in the Foxfield community of Garnet Valley, having previously resided in Wallingford, PA. He earned his bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's University and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Frank had a long and dedicated career as an executive at Unisys, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring. A devout Catholic, he was a faithful member of the Church of the Holy Child in Wilmington, DE.

Frank spent many summers as a young boy with his brothers, friends and parents at his family's cottage on Lily Lake, Pa. He and his wife, Barbara and their four children spent numerous vacations at the lake and especially enjoyed swimming, boating, and water skiing. He spent countless cherished days there surrounded by nature, family and extended family. In retirement, Frank remained active and engaged—he especially enjoyed swimming, playing golf, and playing cards with friends in the Foxfield community, where he was a well-loved presence.

In addition to his parents, Walter and Mabel Sherry Higgins, Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife of many years, Barbara A. Timmons Higgins (2024); four brothers, Walter, Joseph, James, and Jack Higgins; and a grandson, Robbie Higgins. He is survived by his four children: Frank (Jackie) Higgins, Carolyn Croney, Robert (Sue) Higgins, and Christopher (Yolanda) Higgins; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17th, from 10:00–11:00 AM at Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE, followed by an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's memory may be made to Autism Speaks. Online condolences may be shared at www.paganofuneralhome.com.
