Obituary of Maria Madonia
Maria Madonia, age 90, of Garnet Valley, PA passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025 at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia surrounded in love by her immediate family. Maria was born and raised in the mountain town of Polizzi Generosa in Sicily, Italy. She came to America in 1964 in the hope of a better life for her and her family. She settled in Brooklyn, New York, where she raised her family. Maria resided in Garnet Valley, PA for the past 17 years. During her years in Brooklyn, she became an expert seamstress and retired from Barney's New York in Manhattan after more than a decade working there. She was known by her family for her cooking and baking skills, her sense of humor, and her sweet tooth. She enjoyed gardening, game shows, playing cards and traveling, including spending winters in Florida. Her true happiness in life was spending time with her family and grandchildren, especially making lasagna and manicotti with her homemade tomato sauce for them. In addition to her parents, Gandolfo Cascio and Antonia Sausa, Maria was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Madonia, who died in 1984, and four siblings, Gandolfo, Antonio and Giuseppe Cascio and Francesca Ferrante. Maria is survived by her beloved companion of 35 years, Antonio "Tony" Stabile, two daughters, Angela Liuzzo (Ralph) and Antonella "Anne" Madonia (Jeffrey Wack), six grandchildren, Charles, Nicole, Michelle and Joseph Liuzzo and Caroline and Katelyn Wack, and her brother, Mariano Cascio.
A visitation will be held on July 8th, Tuesday, from 2-6pm at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA. An additional visitation will be held at St. John Fisher Church, 4225 Chichester Ave., Boothwyn, PA on Wednesday morning from 9:00-9:45AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM. Interment will be held on Wednesday afternoon, 2:30pm at Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery, 2030 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, NY 11735. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.paganofuneralhome.com.
