Obituary of Melissa F. Schenk

Melissa Schenk, 60, of West Grove, PA, passed away on July 2, 2025. Born and raised in Ridley Park, PA, she was the daughter of Virginia Healey Schenk Fitzpatrick.

Melissa had resided in West Grove for the past seven years, having previously lived in Landenberg, PA. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant in the pharmaceutical industry, where her dedication and warmth were deeply valued.

Melissa had a zest for life and loved music, dancing, and attending live performances and concerts. She found joy in walking along the beach, enjoying dinners by the waterfront, and savoring an evening cocktail. Melissa's laughter and energy were contagious, and she had a knack for turning any occasion into a cherished memory. Her vibrant spirit and love for life's simple pleasures will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her three children: Maria (Preston) Dogan, Levi (Rebecca Craven) Schenk, and Jolianna (Eric) Durham; her mother, Virginia Fitzpatrick; her stepfather, Alfred Fitzpatrick; and her siblings: Joseph (Rose) Schenk, Laurie Chapman, and Jeffrey (Penny) Schenk. She was a beloved grandmother to Derrick, Graham, and Maxwell, and also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Melissa wants her funeral to be a celebration of her life. She asked before her passing that people wear spring colors and florals instead of traditional black.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Elam United Methodist Church, Glen Mills, PA. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, with interment at Elam United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Melissa's legacy of love, laughter and living life to the fullest will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She leaves behind a world brighter, livelier, and more joyful because of her presence.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the School of Rock in Hockessin Delaware or Hockessin Montessori School. Both organizations play a pivotal role in Melissa's grandson's lives and enrich the lives of many children in the community. Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.paganofuneralhome.com.
