Obituary of Richard L. Smith

Richard L. Smith, age 87, of Upper Chichester, PA, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2025. Born and raised in Aston, PA, Richard spent most of his life in his hometown before moving to Upper Chichester, where he resided for the past 15 years. Richard worked as an inspector for the Center for the Blind in both Chester, PA, and New Jersey. Prior to losing his sight, he was a truck driver for Chippy's Beverage Company. Despite the challenges of blindness, Richard remained active and independent. He enjoyed working on cars, cooking, visiting casinos, and was once a member of the Blind Bowling League. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna M. Carter Smith, who passed away in 2018; his mother, Bertha Smith; two children, Richard L. Smith Jr. and infant Debra Smith; and one grandchild. Richard is survived by his sons, Donald L. Smith (Lisa) and Robert A. Smith; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held privately.
