Obituary of Ernest R. Erb, Jr.

Ernest R Erb Jr. (Ernie), 89, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on June 9, 2025. Born in Philadelphia and raised in the Overbrook section of West Philadelphia, Ernie was the son of the late Ernest R. Sr and Maude (Pearson). He spent the past 12 years in West Chester, previously residing in Glen Mills, PA. Ernie began his professional life as the owner and operator of The Moonrakers Restaurant and Bar in Concordville, PA from the late 1960's to early 70's. He then opened a restaurant, Harvey's, in Talleyville, Delaware from the early to mid 1970's. He owned the Concord Motel in Concordville, PA as well during that time. While operating those businesses he developed a lifelong passion for connecting with people. He later transitioned into a successful career in commercial real estate with Prudential Fox & Roach Realtors, where he continued to develop many friendships. Ernie was also a member of the United States Army Reserve. A devoted community member, he was a member of the Brandywine Lions Club for many years and was President of the Club from 1978-1979 and again from 1988-1989. He was also an active member of the Concordville Masonic Lodge. Ernie was a faithful and active member of a men's bible study program held at Radley Run Country Club for twenty plus years until his death. He was a member of the Bethlehem Church in Thornton, Pa for twelve years and was a participant in various church activities, including serving on the Missions Committee until his health prevented him from serving in many programs. He also found great joy in playing golf, particularly at Penn Oaks Golf Club and Radley Run Country Club. Ernie is best remembered for being a true friend to many, helping others and financially giving to many charitable organizations. His sense of humor and kind nature was remarked upon by all, even his health caregivers. He was a devoted husband and enjoyed traveling with his wife Lois to many countries. He took great joy in his stepchildren and grandchildren. He looked forward to being with them on all occasions and was often the wise counselor. He also was devoted to his sisters, their children, and grandchildren. Although they live in various parts of the country, they remained close and kept in contact often. In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian Frye and Virginia Federschmidt and his son Matthew. Ernie is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Lois Riggall Fiorelli Erb: his two sons, Michael Fiorelli and Jonathan (Lisa) Fiorelli: four grandchildren, Marisa, Alexis, Benjamin, and Olivia: two nephews and three nieces, twelve grandnieces & grandnephews and one great grandniece, all of whom will fondly remember him. Visitation will be Friday June 27th from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at Bethlehem Church 4 Westtown Road Thornton, PA 19373 followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00AM. There will be a luncheon after the service at Penn Oaks Golf Club, 150 Penn Oaks Dr. West Chester, PA 19382 for family and friends that would like to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ernie's memory may be made to: The Michael L. Fiorelli Foundation, 3 N. Five Points Road, West Chester, PA 19382.
