Obituary of Robert Dumont

Robert Dumont, age 93, of Springfield, PA passed away peacefully on May 16th, 2025 at his home. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Bob has been a longtime resident of Springfield, PA where he and his wife raised their children. He was a veteran who served his country as a member of the US Army. Bob was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for 58 years as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob had a passion for the stock market, and also was known for his knack to study and fix almost anything. He would always enjoy helping out the neighbors as he was quite handy. Bob was employed for 25 plus years with IBM as a Field Service Engineer, a member of IBM's "Quarter Century Club". After a brief retirement in 1986, he returned to work for another 10 years at DataServe. In addition to his parents, Wilfred and Anna Rieck Dumont, Bob is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Wilfred Dumont Jr. and Edward Dumont. Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Catherine H. Dumont (nee Galanaugh), 2 children, Roseann Dumont and her husband, Greg Dunlap and Robert J. Dumont and his wife Christine and 2 grandchildren, Cole and Olivia Dumont, along with many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 651 E Springfield Rd, Springfield, PA from 6 PM - 8 PM and again on Thursday from 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Interment, S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
