Obituary of James A. Murray, Sr.
James A. Murray, age 80, of Boothwyn, PA, passed away at home on May 10, 2025.
Born in Chester, PA to the late James F. and Annie (Hovanec) Murray, James spent the last 40 years residing in Boothwyn, having previously lived in Chester.
He was a proud graduate of Goldey-Beacom College, earning a degree in Computer Science. James served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He went on to work for over 35 years at the BP oil refinery.
James was a lifelong sports enthusiast and an avid fan of all Philly teams—especially the Phillies and Eagles. He also enjoyed cheering on Notre Dame football. One of his greatest joys was participating in his fantasy baseball league.
Family was at the heart of James' life. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially family snow crab dinners shared with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley A. Murray, who passed away in 2020.
James is survived by his two sons, James A. Murray, Jr. (Jessica) and Craig E. Murray (Stacie); his brother, Matthew Murray (Irene); and his cherished grandchildren: Aaron, Nathan, Jared, Savannah, Evan, and Yoly.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private. * The Family request wearing your favorate Phiilies, Eagles, and Notre Dame gear.
