Obituary of Kathleen A. Koperna

Kathleen "Kathy" A. Koperna, age 83, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at Foulk Living in Wilmington. Born and raised in Chester, PA, Kathy spent the last 20 years in Glen Mills and was previously a longtime resident of Trainer, PA. In her earlier years, Kathy worked for Scott Paper. After raising her children, she returned to the workforce and spent 25 years at Burger King, where she truly enjoyed the camaraderie of her coworkers and the friendships she built there. A woman of deep faith, Kathy was a devoted member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church. She was a proud graduate of Notre Dame High School in Moylan, Class of 1959. Kathy had a sharp wit, a great sense of humor, and a natural talent for storytelling. She was a loyal fan of all Philadelphia sports teams and rarely missed a game. But above all, Kathy cherished time spent with her family—especially her beloved grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Catherine Durkin Casino; her husband, Michael J. Koperna, who passed away in 2004; and her brother, Frederick Casino. Kathy is survived by her loving children, Michelle (Patrick) Van Horn and Michael (Chrissy) Koperna; her sister, Elaine (Francis) Koperna; and five adored grandchildren: Nicholas and Andrew Van Horn, and Ethan, Mason, and Derek Koperna. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16th, from 9:15 to 10:15 AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
