Obituary of Lawrence Joseph Ferreri
Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Ferreri, 95, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, at Riddle Memorial Hospital surrounded by his children and close family members.
Born in Baltimore, MD, to Lawrence and Margaret (Argenteiri) Ferreri, Larry was raised in South Philadelphia and Ridley Park, PA. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 5 years before earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener University).
Professionally, Larry dedicated over 50 years of service as a specialist engineer for the NAWC (Naval Air Warfare Center) building and testing fighter jet catapult systems for the US fleet of aircraft carriers. He received numerous awards and commendations for his service by the Department of the Navy. He was fondly known by his collogues and peers as the 'Cat Doctor" for his deep expertise and experience servicing ships including the USS Carl Vinson, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, USS George H. W. Bush among many others. His work was his passion and took him across the globe where he developed many friendships in the extended US Naval community.
Larry was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a man whose faith was central to every aspect of his life. He was a lifelong and dedicated Roman Catholic who attended Mass daily and drew great comfort from prayer.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois Ann (Cosgrove) Ferreri, who passed in 2009, and his parents. He is survived by his seven children: Lawrence (Julie) Ferreri, William (Diana) Ferreri, Gregory (Laurie) Ferreri, Michael (Kay) Ferreri, Daniel (Lori) Ferreri, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Krause, and Jeanne Marie (Daryl) Powell. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who will cherish his memory.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Glen Mills, PA. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the church. Interment will follow at St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery.
