Obituary of Lucy Strommer

Lucy Strommer, 65, of Chadds Ford, PA, passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2025.

Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Lucy lived in Chadds Ford for the past 27 years. Prior to that, she resided in Roswell, GA for seven years and in Boca Raton, FL for five years. Lucy was a dedicated sales professional at WL Gore and Associates for the past six years, and before that, she spent 11 years as a customer service supervisor at Bilcare Research.

Lucy immigrated to the United States in 1983 and earned an Associate's degree in finance and credit management from Alexandria Technical and Community College. Deeply devoted to her faith, she was an active member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church.

In addition to her career, Lucy had a passion for nurturing others. Along with her husband, she had the privilege of hosting seven exchange students over the years. She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandson, Henry.

Lucy was preceded in death by her father, Francisco Dario Valarezo. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Martin J. Strommer; her daughter, Stephanie (Christian) Croteau; her mother, Mariana de Jesus Sanchez Valarezo; four sisters, Elena (Miguel) Pienknagura, Marita (Bob McDunn) Valarezo, Silvia (The Late Stephen Wallace) Valarezo, and Diana (Guy Castadot) Valarezo; and her cherished grandson, Henry Croteau.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 28th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
