Obituary of Kevin P Joyce

Kevin P. Joyce, age 81, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away on February 28, 2025. Born in Chester, PA, to James P. and Sarah Gallagher Joyce, he spent the last 19 years in Garnet Valley after residing in Aston, PA, for 31 years. Kevin was a proud graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1961. He continued his education at St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN, and later earned his Master's Degree from Cheyney University in Glen Mills, PA. A life long sports' enthusiast, Kevin was an avid fan of the Phillies and Eagles. His passion, however, was basketball. He spent many hours of his youth playing B ball at "the cage" and various other courts around Chester. He also spent many hours of his adulthood retelling his family of those exploits. His love of golf began at the age of 13 when he started caddying at Springhaven Country Club, which he continued every summer well into his fifties. After retiring from teaching, he enjoyed summers at his cherished summer home in Ocean City, NJ where he relaxed by the shore, played golf with the guys, and spent quality time with his family. Kevin also took great pride in the 31 years he spent teaching elementary students in the Chester Upland School District hoping to be a positive influence in his students' lives. In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by seven siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joyce; his daughter, Heather (Bud) Norton; his son, Jason (Michelle) Joyce; his sister, Pat Garvey; and his sister-in-law, Audrey McKenney.
