Obituary of David G. Gorbey

David G. Gorbey, age 81, of Garnet Valley, PA passed away peacefully on February 24, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at home. A resident of Garnet Valley for the past 10 years, David previously resided in Ridley Twp., PA for many years. He served in the Navy Seabees for 8 years as a Reservist. He was employed by Aqua Pennsylvania Water Co. for over 50 years where he retired as Vice President of Maintenance and Construction in 2004. A Mason, he belonged to Lodge #578 F&AM. He also was a Shriner at Lu Lu Temple. David stayed quite active, he served on the board of Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, served on the Rocky Run YMCA board during it's construction, served on the Delcora Board of Directors, was a member of the Media Lions Club and was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. In addition, he owned and operated his own business, "Delaware Valley Flag & Banner Co.". David also enjoyed fishing and was known as an avid Phillies fan. In addition to his parents, Robert and Mary Stillwell Gorbey, he is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Gorbey. David is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara A. Gorbey (Crossan), 3 daughters, Sandra (Bob) Kish, Barbara (Bob Rostron) Cummings and Marybeth (Bob) Hassell, a sister, Mary Jane Wiker, 7 grandchildren, David, Emily, Meghan, Moira, Liam, Ryan and Katie and 2 great grandchildren, Hunter and Ellie. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, 6-8PM (Masonic Service occurring at 7:30PM) and again Thursday morning, 9-10AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA. Interment, S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
