Obituary of Serge L. Chauvin

Serge Louis Chauvin, age 81 of Garnet Valley, PA died on November 21, 2017 at Heartland Hospice House, Wilmington, DE. Born to the late Marcel Rene Chauvin & Yvette Louise Chachignon Chauvin, Serge was raised in Paris, France where he worked for both PANAM and AIR FRANCE. At the age of 31 Serge immigrated to the United States settling first in New York. As an employee of AIR FRANCE, he then transferred to Chicago and later Boston as a Station Manager. His airline career also included 2 years with TAP in Boston. Serge has been a resident of the Foxfield Community in Garnet Valley, PA for the past 5 years moving from Center Conway, New Hampshire, his home for 35 years, where he retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1999. Serge was known as being quite handy including designing and building his own solar house in the White Mountains. He loved being outdoors observing nature, skiing, hiking and snowshoeing. Impacted by World Wars and serving in the Algerian War, Serge advocated Social J Justice and Peace, joining peace initiatives and encouraging and aiding Loretta in her volunteer work for Mother Seton House. He is survived by his wife, Loretta J. Chauvin (nee Manuszak), 2 cherished children, Alex Chauvin & Carole Chauvin Richardson and husband Adam, and 2 grandchildren, Sadie Rose & Jack Murphy Richardson. He is also survived by 4 generations of beloved cousins in France, Loretta's sister, brother and their spouses, niece, nephew, cousins and very close friends. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017, from 10-11AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 11:00AM. Interment is private. Preceded by his grandfather and father as a cancer victim, he accepted every clinical trial offered to him.
