Obituary of Bruce R. Woodruff

Bruce R. Woodruff, age 57, of Havertown, PA passed away suddenly on November 26, 2017. Born and raised in Darby and Upper Chichester, PA, Bruce was a lifelong Delaware County resident. He graduated from Upper Chichester High School, class of 1978. He worked in sales for many years, most recently with the Univest Corporation and previously with the Delaware County Daily Times in the advertising department. Bruce's sense of humor, compassionate spirit and giving heart is what people remember most about him. The love he had for his wife, daughter, family, friends and his Pop could always be found in his favorite past time - Facebook! When a friend was in need he would always be one of the first to reach out to say "what can I do?". One of his passions was his business - "Hot Woody". You could always find him on Saturdays at Cowtown in Woodstown, NJ selling HOT PICKLES!, CRAB SALSA!, LOCAL HONEY! (Which you could hear him yelling ) long before you would see him. Bruce was a regular at Media's Super Sunday. People would seek him out just for pickles or honey. His "Honey Hookups" were his newest medium to get out and interact with people because if you knew Woody he was the farthest thing from a wallflower. A man who enjoyed giving, he volunteered for numerous organizations including International Nights for the Ministry of Caring, Ronald McDonald House of DE and his proudest accomplishment in the past few years was being a Balloon Captain in the 2016 Thanksgiving Day parade in Philadelphia. An avid Phillies fan, he and his wife would travel to see the team play at a different stadium each year. Bruce's most memorable trip was to Wrigley Stadium where he shed a tear since it reminded him of his trips to Connie Mack Stadium with Pop. He even kissed the wall when he arrived because he was so happy to be there. A fan of Bruce Springsteen he was looking forward to seeing him on Broadway in February. Bruce was able to share his last Springsteen concert with his daughter, best friend and wife when he played Citizen's Bank Park where his favorite baseball team also happens to reside. He is preceded in death by his father, Edmond G. Woodruff who died in 2012 and a brother, Leonidas Woodruff who died in 2006. Bruce is survived by his wife, Deborah E. Kulp-Woodruff, a daughter, Jillian (Michael) Knox, mother, Metta P. Kime Woodruff, sister, Elizabeth (James) Keenan, brothers, Edmond G. (Susan) Woodruff and Eric (Kellie) Woodruff, many nieces and nephews, extended family and a multitude of friends. He is also survived by 3 fur babies - Bailey, Shamus and his most beloved Faith. A visitation will be held on Saturday, 9-11AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by Funeral Services at 11AM. Interment will remain private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Woody's name may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, 1901 Rockland Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803 or the Providence Animal Shelter Center, 555 Sandy Bank Rd., Media, PA 19063.
