Peter Pagano

Obituary of Peter Pagano

Peter B. Pagano Sr., age 83, of Broomall, PA passed away peacefully on April 22, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Pete graduated high school and attended LaSalle University. During college, he had the opportunity to buy a small pizza parlor in the University of Pennsylvania neighborhood in Philadelphia. Upon presenting this idea to his dad, Charles, they decided to go into business in 1955. This was only the beginning of a famous restaurant that bloomed into "The Original House of Pagano's". Over the years, Pete, Charles and later joined by his younger brother, Theodore built a restaurant that seated over a thousand guests that lasted for almost 3 decades. Pete struggled with the thought of retirement and that certainly was short lived as he was too active in his mind and spirit. However he found peace with the Merion School District and drove a schoolbus for the students. His unique character and wit was loved by everyone and his students were no exception. The gifts and cards he received from his students will always remain a treasure in his home. He retired once again after 17 years with the school district. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and anyone that had the fortune of meeting him. After his heart attack 10 years ago, his health declined, however his formidable arduous personality known by all stayed with him almost until the end. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Barbieri Pagano. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 62 years, Amelia "Millie" Pagano (nee Ferro), 4 devoted children, Charles (Donna Reeves) Pagano, Karen (Christopher Topolski) Cedrone, Cheryl (Robert) Jacobs and Peter (Patricia) Pagano Jr., a brother, Theodore Pagano, grandchildren, Vincent and Anthony Cedrone, Stephanie Leonetti, Brittany and Amanda Pagano, Bobby, Andrea and Brian Jacobs, Glenn, Peter III, Renae and Nicholas Pagano, and 2 great grandchildren, Nicholas and Scarlett. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing, Thursday night, 7-9PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA 19060 and again Friday morning 9-10AM at St. Thomas the Apostle (new church), 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, PA followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM.
