Obituary of Roy L. Buller

Roy Lee Buller age 81 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday, March 2 at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media, PA with his wife and daughters by his side. Roy was born in Trainer, PA on June 2, 1934 to Ernest and Sadie (Bush) Buller. He grew up in Chester and was very close to his Grandmother Virginia Lawrence. He attended St. Hedwig's School, Chester High School, and he graduated in 1952. He served in the Army from 1957 – 1959. Roy coached little league baseball for several years. He worked for BP Oil Company in Marcus Hook, PA and retired after over 30 years of service in 1996. Roy married Joyce Savage Buller on November 5, 1955. They met at a dance in January 1955, became engaged four months later, and were married at St. Hedwig's Church in Chester, PA. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife Joyce (Savage), his daughter Janice Platt and her husband Jim of Middletown, DE; his daughter Lisa Ferraro and her husband James of Wilmington, DE; and several Granddogs and Grandcats. Roy enjoyed dining out, dancing, bowling, trips to the beach, and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed his trips to Aruba and to the Bahamas. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. What he loved more than anything was being with his wife Joyce. Throughout his illness, he kept his sense of humor, rarely complained, and was welcoming and nice to everyone who came in contact with him. His family would like to thank the Riddle Hospital nursing staff especially Rita and Wanda, Marcie the hospital Chaplain who spent a lot of time with Roy and his family, and Father Bell from Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. with a service to follow at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Renee's Rescue, a Delaware based non-profit dog rescue specializing in the rescue and care of dogs and puppies saved from puppy mills.
