Obituary of Alicia Marie Babiak

Alicia Marie Babiak, beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend, died suddenly at the too-young age of 28 on August 4, 2016 in Brooklyn, New York. Born in Philadelphia, she was raised in Glen Mills, PA, where she graduated from Garnet Valley High School in 2006. Alicia was a 3-sport high school athlete, but her passion was soccer, where she was a 4-year varsity starter, leading to a 1st Team All-Delco selection. Despite the advice of her high school guidance counselors to have options, Alicia only applied to one university as her school of choice, Penn State, where her older sister also attended, and her younger brother followed suit. Alicia graduated 4 years later in 2010 from the Penn State Smeal College of Business with a Bachelor's of Science in Marketing. Upon graduation, Alicia had already secured a sales & marketing job and was starting the next exciting chapter of her life in New York City. As a Digital Account Director developing interactive campaigns with big-brand clients, Alicia just recently landed her dream job at Complex Media, after having started her career at the New York Post, and having worked at several start up's in between. Alicia spent 6 fun-filled years in Manhattan, and most recently relocated to Brooklyn just 1 month ago with her loving companion dog, Leo. Alicia is survived by her devoted parents, Olesh & Patricia Babiak, older sister and her husband, Kristyn & Jared King, younger brother, Evan Babiak, her maternal grandmother, Lorraine Aleski, as well as numerous aunts, uncles & cousins. Alicia was about to become a first-time aunt in October 2016. She will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Relatives & friends are invited to attend Alicia's Visitation on Sunday evening, 7:00-9:00PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, PA 19060 and again on Monday, 9:00-9:45AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 160 Ridge Rd., Chadds Ford, PA 19317. A Funeral Mass will follow on Monday, 10:00AM at the church. Interment will remain private. Donations in Alicia's memory may be made to Penn State Dance MaraTHON, a philanthropy helping in the fight against pediatric cancer, in which Alicia was involved throughout her Penn State undergrad and alumnus years, at www.thon.org.
